Mesotherapy has been used for many years as an effective pain management tool to help treat many conditions in the horse, including chronic neck and back pain.
Since many lameness issues involve neck or back pain, mesotherapy can be used as an additional tool to increase the efficacy of other treatments, including chiropractic, acupuncture, shockwave therapy, and more invasive joint and back injections.
It consists of a series of injections under your horse's skin (4-6 mm) of a pain-blocking agent. Results (decreased pain and reactivity) are usually seen within 24-48 hours after injection. The number and frequency of injections varies from patient to patient depending on their specific ailment.
