Dr. Nicole Finazzo

DVM, cVMA, CVSM

Dr. Nicole Finazzo was born and raised on Long Island, NY. She grew up riding and trained her green 4 year-old Thoroughbred up to 1.25m jumpers. She competed both locally and regionally on the USEF A-rated circuit, splitting her high school weekends between horse showing and volunteering at a local therapeutic riding center.

 

Dr. Finazzo enrolled at Cornell University College of Agriculture and Life Sciences where she graduated cum laude in 2010 with majors in both Animal Science and Natural Resources. Throughout her college career she continued riding competitively and was a member of the Cornell Intercollegiate Horse Show Association varsity team.

 

Dr. Finazzo remained in Ithaca for veterinary school and graduated from Cornell University College of Veterinary Medicine in 2014. As a 4th year veterinary student, Dr. Finazzo achieved certification in acupuncture from Colorado State University, where she met Dr. Marshall-Gibson.

 

After obtaining her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine, Dr. Finazzo completed a one-year internship at Mid-Atlantic Equine Medical Center in New Jersey. She gained valuable experience in sports medicine, surgery, internal medicine and emergency/critical care. It is here that Dr. Finazzo furthered her interest in equine sports medicine, regenerative therapies and diagnostic imaging.

 

In 2015, Dr. Finazzo joined Miller and Associates, a premiere sport horse practice based in New York, Florida, and along east-coast horse show circuit. At Miller and Associates, she continued to develop her skills in performance horse medicine.  Dr. Finazzo’s professional interests include sports medicine, regenerative medicine, endoscopy, acupuncture and chiropractic. Dr. Finazzo earned her veterinary spinal manipulation (chiropractic) certification with the Integrated Veterinary Medical Institute at the Chi Institute in Florida.

 

In 2020, Dr. Finazzo moved to Colorado and joined the team at Front Range Equine Performance where she could continue fostering her passion for sport horse medicine. In 2022, she completed her certificate as an equine rehabilitation practitioner at the University of Tennessee. 

 

Dr. Finazzo is a member of the AAEP (American Association of Equine Practitioners), AVMA (American Veterinary Medical Association), FEI (Fédération Equestre Internationale), and USEF (United States Equestrian Federation) and currently holds veterinary licenses in CO and WY.  

 

Dr. Finazzo enjoys the great outdoors and the mountains of Colorado. She is an avid hiker, backpacker and rock climber, often accompanied by her German Shorthaired Pointer, Lexi.
