Not only is COVID-19 terrifying for the world, but it is also terrifying for the large animal and equine industry. The majority of veterinary teaching hospitals are closed down, and veterinary students are not able to be present during appointments due to COVID-19. In this crucial time before graduation or ending and internship, this limits the number of patients and hands on experience our future equine veterinarians are exposed to before joining us on the front lines. Prior to this pandemic, research polling of veterinary graduates showed less than 1% of graduating veterinarians are entering Large Animal Veterinary Medicine, particularly equine. The 5 year retention rate is even scarier, with over 50% of veterinarians in large animal medicine leaving to go to small animal or industry jobs within 5 years of graduation.

Please help us help your horse by helping to educate these future veterinarians.
